How we run an engineering assignment

Each assignment follows our documented procedure, certified to EN ISO 9001 since 2007. The proposal defines the scope, the interfaces and what each side provides; the steps below show how we then deliver it.

Four stages

  1. Scope and inputs

We agree in writing the scope, battery limits, standards, deliverables and exclusions. A project manager is named and prepares the project and quality plan with its milestones. We review your documents and visit the site; where the existing plant matters, it is laser-scanned by IPE or by a scanning partner. Missing or outdated information is listed at the start.

  2. Coordination and reviews

The process basis – balances, flow diagrams, P&IDs – is submitted for your approval before the other disciplines build on it. Where the project uses a 3D model, the disciplines coordinate in it, with clash checks and model reviews with your team. Interfaces with licensors, vendors and other contractors are listed and followed up.

  3. Internal check and controlled issue

Every document is checked by a second engineer before issue. Documents are issued with a transmittal, and each revision is traceable.

  4. Acceptance and support

You confirm acceptance as agreed in the contract, for example in a signed protocol. Where agreed, we provide designer's supervision during construction, support for trial operation and as-built documentation. Our project archive goes back to 2006.

Delivery note: unless the project uses the client's convention, documents are first issued for approval (revision A) and then as final (revision F).

What you provide and approve

You provide

  • The existing documents: drawings, permits, process descriptions, vendor data
  • Access to the site and to the people who operate the plant
  • The design basis from the licensor or technology supplier, where there is one
  • Your standards, numbering, title block and model environment, if they apply
  • A contact person who can take decisions

You approve

  • The scope, battery limits and exclusions
  • The process basis before detail design starts
  • Model reviews and documents issued for approval
  • Changes to the scope, before they are carried out
  • Acceptance of the deliverables

What our proposals set out

Scope

Phases, deliverables, battery limits, interfaces and exclusions, so both sides know what is and is not included.

Authorised engineers

Documents for Slovak permits are signed by engineers authorised by the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers (SKSI) in the relevant categories.

Contract terms

Confidentiality and its timing, the design guarantee, intellectual property and design rights, and contact with the end client are defined in each proposal.
